Becoming a Member of the Apdex Alliance

The Apdex Alliance is a non-profit association. The work of the Alliance is supported by companies that want to help achieve the goals of the Alliance. Members agree to abide by the following Apdex Alliance governing documents:

      Apdex Alliance Bylaws

The Apdex Alliance offers the following membership categories.

Supporting Member
Apdex Alliance Supporting members are individuals who are interested in applying the Apdex methodology within their enterprise and support the goals of the Apdex Alliance. Supporting members enjoy the following benefits. >> More information about becoming a Supporting Member.

Contributing Member
The Contributing Membership is the basic membership for companies that are active in information technology application or user performance. Contributor Members may have up to three people identified as representatives to the Alliance.

Contributor Members are active members of Technical Working Group(s) (TWG). This includes full participation in setting the agenda of the TWG, participating in meeting or sub-working group activities, making formal presentations to the TWG on issues important to the Contributor Member, and working on draft documents. Contributor Members may have editorial input into draft documents (including documents undergoing a vote procedure).

Contributor Member firms are listed as Contributor Members on the Apdex web site and on press releases that include an all members list. The annual fee for Contributor Membership is $5,000.

Business Value of Joining as a Contributing Member

Management Board Member
The Contributor Members nominate and elect a Board of Directors from among their membership at the annual meeting of the Alliance. The Management Board Member companies will designate a specific person who will be that company's "Representative to the Board." This individual is expected to serve for a one year term. The Management Board meets as needed to deal with the administration and development of the Alliance. Board meetings are private but the minutes of the meetings are made available to the Contributor Members.

The Management Board is responsible for governance, operational policy, business development, membership recruitment, engaging contractors to work for the Alliance, defining membership categories, and setting membership fees. The Board defines working groups and approves their charters. The Board defines the document approval process that the TWG must follow to ratify an official Alliance public document. The Board has final authority for accepting the work of a working group and publishing a document.

The Management Board is initially limited to five Contributor Members. The Board can choose to change this number at a later date.

Management Board members are publicly announced each year through a press release that describes the company and its participation in the Alliance. Board members are separately listed under a Board of Directors listing in the membership list of the Alliance web site.

There is no additional fee to be a Board Member. However, Contributor Member Representatives to the Board are expected to contribute time and expenses associated with Board duties and meetings.
